“I see a chance to make a difference…My own future may look bleak, but I can still do a little something to heal the damage I see all around me.”

Making Amends

In addition to the positive impact he has had on his fellow prisoners, Ross Ulbricht has sought to further redeem himself by supporting charitable causes.

Art4Giving is a charitable fund created by the Ulbricht family following the auction of Ross’s art as an NFT.

Ross explained: “From the beginning with this NFT, I’ve wanted to help kids travel to see their moms and dads in prison. But with such high bids, we can now have a real impact on many other important causes as well.”

Throughout his life, Ross has consistently contributed to charitable efforts. In his teens, he helped Well Aware’s project to bring clean drinking water to Kenyan families and he used to donate 10% of his small lab research paycheck in school. After graduating, he donated to charity 10% of gross earnings from his used book business and donated unsold books to a prison literacy program.

Art4Giving’s Mission

On behalf of Ross, Art4Giving supports causes and projects that make a real difference in people’s lives.

With a focus on lowering recidivism and harm reduction, Art4Giving has donated, in large part, to charities that support prisoners through prison visits, education, and successful re-entry and to charities that provide drug addiction prevention and treatment.
