It’s Thanksgiving today, Ross’s third in captivity. I visited him yesterday in prison. Like me, others were there to be with their loved ones, thankful to see them even for an hour.

Ross and I discussed Thanksgiving. He said, despite his present circumstances, he is thankful for many things. He is most grateful for all the wonderful people around the world who have supported him in this battle, advocated for his release and stood up for freedom. “Knowing there are so many people out there who are with me, supporting me, remembering me, has given me the strength to be in here and to keep going,” he said. “As isolated as I am from the outside, knowing they are out there gives me hope and courage.”

He said how fortunate he is compared to the many in prison with him who don’t have this support, and how he always tries to be an encourager to them.

Ross sends his deepest gratitude to all of you who have given your time, resources, encouragement and support. It means more than you can know.
